Korean tech giant, Samsung has announced its latest unbreakable flexible OLED panel. This is coming after the company announced back in November 23 that it has developed an unbreakable smartphone panel. The panel which has been certified by UL (Underwriters Laboratories), boast of withstanding a 1.8M, nearly 6 feet drop tests. This new record is significantly higher than the U.S. military standard.
According to Samsung, the panel can also be used in automobiles, mobile military devices, portable game consoles and tablet PCs for e-learning. It was developed using unbreakable substrate and an overlay window securely adhered to it that makes it more durable.
The General Manager of the Communication Team, Samsung Display, Hojung Kim, said;
The fortified plastic window is especially suitable for portable electronic devices not only because of its unbreakable characteristics, but also because of its lightweight, transmissivity and hardness, which are all very similar to glass
A drop-test conducted by UL from nearly 4 feet high, saws the Samsung unbreakable panel function normally with no damage.
