As a website owner, ranking higher in search engine, plays an important role in the success of your website. It is the wish and dream of any website owner to appear on the first page of Google search engine. To achieve this, building backlinks to a website becomes a very important factor. You not only build any links, but build quality backlinks that will ensure your website rank’s higher.
Having these quality backlinks is seen by Google and other search engines as a vote of confidence on your website. As a result, many webmasters and site owners have device different means of obtaining these links. While some result in shady practices, others try as much as possible to stay on the right side of things.
A recent statement by Google’s John Mueller in a Google Webmaster Help thread revealed that building quality backlinks, could as hurt your website. John while responding to a question said; making quality links is against the Google webmaster guidelines.
According to him;
If *you’re* making quality links to your site, then that would be considered against our webmaster guidelines, and by that, those links would definitely not be considered “quality”.
He further revealed that Google wants natural links, links you do not go out specifically and “make.” If you make links than by definition, those links are not natural and thus against Google’s guidelines. Google’s link building guidelines have evolved over the years and Google is way more strict about what is classified as a natural link versus what is not.
So guys, be careful the way you build back-links.
