No doubt Albeit Qualcomm has prided itself as a dominate force in the mobile industry. While the company features a lineup of Snapdragon CPUs in more top branded smartphone on the market, Taiwan based chip maker MediaTek is not doing bad for itself. At the beginning of the year, the company unveiled the MediaTek Helio P60 which currently powers 15 phones.
MediaTek who’s aiming to grow its customer base, will be launching a successor to the Helio P60. Know as the MediaTek Helio P70, a very similar SoC built on a 12nm process that packs eight cores, specifically four A73s and four A53s but with an upgrade AI. While the Helio P60 is based on an AI processing unit (APU), the new Helio P70 will use a Neural Processing Unit (NPU).
While other details such as the frequency and GPU haven’t been revealed, we expected the MediaTek Helio P70 to compete with the Snapdragon 710. The chipset is expected to be launched by the end of the month.
