Xiaomi Redmi 5A Now Getting Stable Android 8.1 Oreo Update

Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 8.1 (Oreo) based MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM to the Redmi 5A. The smartphone was last year running MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 Nougat. Last month, it was updated to MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM which was based on Android 7.1 (Nougat).

The update comes as MIUI 10.1.2.0.OCKMIFI and weighs 1.3GB in size. The update also comes with Nov 2018 Android security patch. It is coming to users of the device via OTA, so it may take sometime before it gets to you. If you can’t wait, you can download the Recovery ROM here and manually flash it using recovery method.

Xiaomi is also expected to roll out Android 8.1 (Oreo) based MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM for Redmi 5 soon. The update will be bringing dual 4G VoLTE support to the device. You can see more HERE.
