You Can Now Add Friends To Ongoing Video Chat On Instagram Direct

Instagram Video Chat

Instagram has added a new feature that makes it possible for users to add people to an ongoing video chat in Direct. The social media giant announced this via its platform and Twitter, with a short video. The video shows who users can use the new feature for video chats.

Instagram wrote;

Now you can add people to an ongoing video chat in Direct. Just swipe up while you’re chatting to add more friends and keep the conversation going.

To use the feature, simply swipe up while you’re chatting to add more friends while keeping the conversation going. To start a video chat, just swipe from right to Direct inbox and open any message thread. From there tap on the new camera icon in the right corner, and the video chat will ring your friends’ phones, so they don’t miss it. While on the video chat, you can minimize the video and multitask on Instagram, sending messages and photos in Direct, browsing your feed, posting a story and more.

Video chatting can start with any number of persons and then expanded to more people. The camera icon turns blue when there is an active video chat in a group thread. Also, you have the option to mute a person if you don’t want to receive notifications from them.
