According to a report from LetsGoDigital, Samsung is working on a TV set that doubles as a mirror. According to a recent patent filed by the tech giant, the TV transforms into a smart mirror when turned off. The report revealed that the company have been working on this for months.
The patent was filed by Samsung Electronics in America with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) and subsequently with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office). The design shows a square-shaped with rounded corners and a very thin shape with almost non-existent bezels.
All its ports will be located at the back of the smart-TV as well as the power supply cord. How it works is that, the device works as a classic TV when turned On, and while on stand-by mode, transforms into a smart mirror. When on mirror mode, the device is capable of display the weather, as well as notifications from a paired smartphone.
It is believed that Samsung will be integrating touchscreen functionality and a smart lighting system to the device. Also expected from the tech giant, is Samsung’s voice assistant. It is not clear when the company will be introducing the device or if it launch such a device on the market.
Before now, a company by the name Simplehuman has unveiled a Sensor Mirror with an integrated Google Assistant. Samsung’s new design will be bringing both a smart mirror and a TV function on one device. That is, you will be getting a mirror and a TV on a single device. Waiting to see how this will look like.
