FG Announces New Date For WASSCE, NECO And NABTEB Resumption

The federal government of Nigeria has released a new date, for the commencement of the Senior Secondary School (SSS) 3 leaving certificate exams. This was revealed by the honorable Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajuiba, on Wednesday in Abuja. He also announced the new dates set for the Junior Secondary School (JSS) 3 as well.

According to reports, the new date was set after a series of meetings by the chief executives of examination bodies in the country. The various examination body executives held a two meeting with the minister and a new date was agreed upon. This is coming as the Coronavirus pandemic is still hitting hard on the country’s activity.

As per the date, the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will begin on August 17 and will end on November 18, 2020. The National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) examinations will start on September 21 and end on October 15.

The minister also revealed that the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) for JSS 3 students, which is conducted by NECO, will start on August 24 and end on September 7. The National Common Entrance Examination, (NCEE) which is a one-day NECO examination for intending applicants into Unity Colleges (JSS1) will be held on October 17, 2020.

For those who wish to take National Examination Council Exams, registration for the NECO (SSCE), which is ongoing, will end on September 10, 2020. The Minister revealed that there won’t be no extension after the date has expired. He said the NECO exams will start on October 5 and end on November 18, 2020.

He also said the examination by the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) will commence on September 23 and end on October 17.
