President Donald Trump has been banned permanently from using Twitter. This is coming after he was initially handed a 12-hour ban that required the removal of a few Tweets. The ban means that the US president, from now on, will not be able to use his @realDonaldTrump account on the platform again.
Twitter wrote on its official account after suspending the account saying;
After a close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.

Twitter also gave reasons explaining the risks that Trump’s last two Tweets pose. One of which called his supporters “AMERICAN PATRIOTS” which could encourage further acts like the events that occurred on January 6. Trump’s final Tweet read: “To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”
Trump was initially handed a 12 hour ban and was told to delete some of his tweet which the platform believed was against their rule. In a the tweet, the company wrote;
As a result of the unprecedented and ongoing violent situation in Washington, D.C., we have required the removal of three @realDonaldTrump Tweets that were posted earlier today for repeated and severe violations of our Civic Integrity policy.
