MultiChoice via its official website as announced that it has concluded plans for an Open Audition call for this year Big Brother Naija Season 6 starting from Monday, May 3 till Sunday, May 16, 2021.

According to the company, “interested participants are expected to record a two-minute video of themselves, stating why they should be picked to be a Housemate in Season 6 of BBNaija”. The company also made it known that the “audition is free and open to interested male and female participants, who are of Nigerian nationality with a valid identity document, and must be 21 years of age by June 1, 2021”.

Speaking on the Auditions for this new season, Chief Executive Officer, MultiChoice Nigeria John Ugbe said: “We are strengthening our investment in quality content with another season of BBNaija. BBNaija has become one of the most anticipated TV events across Africa and this season promises to be even bigger and more entertaining”.

About The Open Audition (How To Apply)?

The Open Audition requires interested participants to make a 2 minute short video of themselves stating why they should be picked as a housemate for the season 6 show. After making to video, applicants are required to log on to www.africamagic.tv/BBAudition to fill out the online registration form and upload their videos.

All participants must be of Nigerian origin and must be 21 years of age by June 1, 2021.

About Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Show?

The Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) tv show, which was formerly known as Big Brother Nigeria, is a reality show in which contestants live in an isolated house and compete for a large cash prize. The first edition of the show was aired from 5 March to 4 back in June 2006. It lasted for 92 days and had 14 housemates. The winner of the first edition was Katung Aduwak.

The second edition titled See Gobbe, started on 22 January 2017 and ended on 9 April 2017. The 77 days show has 14 contestants and the winner was Michael Efe Ejeba. The third season tag Double Wahala was aired from 28 January 2018 to 22 April 2018 with 20 contestants. The 85 days show had Miracle Igbokwe as the winner.

BBNaija was renewed for a 4th season and this time, it was tagged, “Peper Dem”. It lasted for 99 days, and was aired from 30 June 2019 to 6 October 2019. It had 21 housemates and the winner of that edition, was Mercy Eke. The 5th season of the show took place during the covid 19 pandemic, hence it was tagged “Lockdown”. It lasted for 71 days and had 20 housemates as contestants. It was aired from 19 July 2020 to 28 September 2020 and had Olamilekan “Laycon” Agbeleshe as the winner.

7. I paid my DStv/GOtv subscription to qualify for the Early Access auditions, but I did not receive a unique website link to submit my audition video. What happens to application?

A confirmation email was sent to qualified applications during the Early Access auditions. Participants were directed to check their spam or junk email folders for this mail. However, if you still did not receive one, you can still enter for the open auditions starting Monday, May 3.

8. Will the final housemates be selected after the online auditions?

No. Entries received will be screened for eligibility and suitability following which successful applications will be further screened. The final shortlist will be selected with one-on-one screenings where our standard psych evaluations and interviews will be organized in a controlled and sanitized environment where social distancing will be observed.

9. With auditions moving online and an absence of physical verification, how do you ensure the quality of housemates matches or even surpasses that of previous seasons?

The same rules apply for any type of Big Brother audition, and our selectors will apply the same experience from the previous seasons. We will always follow the same guidelines in terms of selecting housemates based on character and personality amongst other things.
